Location of tunnels in Remscheid |
Stollen is a town in the north of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Remscheid .
It is located in the west of the Lüttringhausen district near the city limits to Wuppertal - Ronsdorf .
Together with the neighboring Leyermühle residential area, there is a tunnel in the Leyerbach valley between Halbach and Clarenbach . The localities Goldenberg and Birgden III are also adjacent .
On August 21, 1891 the connection to the Ronsdorf-Müngstener Railway took place parallel to the road running through the Leyerbachtal towards Ronsdorf and Clarenbach; the connection to Müngsten was extended that same year. Today there is a city bus route . A number of residential buildings on the thoroughfare to Ronsdorf determine the picture - including half-timbered and slate houses from older years.
The hydropower of the Leyerbach has been used for metal processing by grinding docks and water hammers since pre-industrial times . Small iron industry businesses are still located here today . The old bridge to the Bornscheider Hammer, which is located below Stollen, can still be seen.
