Traffic and industry

On August 21, 1891 the connection to the Ronsdorf-Müngstener railway took place parallel to the road running through the Leyerbachtal towards Ronsdorf and Clarenbach .

The extension to Müngsten came in the same year. In 1907 the tram line was opened via Lüttringhausen and Lennep to Wermelskirchen . There was also a tram line between “Toelleturm” on the Wuppertal Heights and “Schöne Aussicht” in Remscheid. After the tram connections were discontinued, the city bus route 670 and the night express NE 16 run through the Leyerbach valley between Remscheid, Clarenbach and Ronsdorf.

The hydropower of the Leyerbach has been used for metal processing by grinding docks and water hammers since pre-industrial times . There are still companies in the metal industry in the valley today .

The ancestors of the von Bohlen and Halbach family had their first forge in the court. The main building, an old Bergisch slate house with a large park-like garden, has been inhabited for a long time by the descendants of the Halbach and Erbschloe families. It is visible from afar.
