Erbschloe came from a well-known Bergisch factory owner and merchant family. His parents were the manufacturer Carl Wilhelm August Erbschloe (1815–1869) and Clara Erbschloe, née. vom Hagen (1828-1894). August Erbschloe was the boss of the Erbschloewerke in the street "Lenhartzhammer". This was originally a stone saw factory . The company later changed its structure and operated under the name “Bergisches Strahlzentrum”, since metal surface treatments such as sandblasting are currently part of the program. The family's ancestral home, a feudal patrician house, is still a few hundred meters away in the Halbach estate .

In 1880 August Erbschloe was elected to the Lüttringhauser city council and became 1st councilor before and after the First World War . In addition to his political activities, Erbschloe was chairman of the Lüttringhauser Landwehr and Warrior Comradeship. He also held the office of church master in Lüttringhausen for a while and worked as a volunteer for the Bergische IHK .

The family name is derived from the court "Erbschloe", which was also part of the Erbschloe honor in the former parish of Lüttringhausen. August married Emma Berninghaus in 1877. He left a son and a daughter.

Honors

In 1925, Erbschloe resigned from the office of alderman at the age of 75. Because of his services, the then town of Lüttringhausen granted him honorary citizenship on his 74th birthday . He was one of only six honorary citizens who existed in the independent city of Lüttringhausen until 1929.

Another honor of the well-known Lüttringhauser was the fact that the former Elberfelder Straße (the traffic connection between Remscheider Straße on the Lüttringhauser Höhe and the Lenhartzhammer street in the Leyerbachtal ) was named after him. Erbschloe and his descendants are buried in the family grave of the Lutheran cemetery in Lüttringhausen.
