The Stony Creek is a creek in the southern Australian state of Victoria . It flows through the western suburbs of Melbourne , St. Alban , Albion , Sunshine , Braybrook , Tottenham , Brooklyn , Kingsville and Yarraville .

At the moment (February 2011) the upper reaches of Stony Creek are in bad shape from an environmental point of view; in this area it can best be characterized as a rainwater runoff . Most of its way through Sunshine, it runs underground and only comes back to light at Hill Reserve . Its further course leads through heavily industrialized area; but there it is lined with trees.

The Stony Creek flows into the Yarra River at Yarraville under the West Gate Bridge . The estuary is called Stony Creek Backwash and is fringed by mangroves .
