The Plenty River is a river in the south of the Australian state of Victoria and a tributary of the Yarra River .
It rises on the wooded slopes of Mount Disappointment , flows south through the small Toorourrong Reservoir and feeds the first larger reservoir of Melbourne's water supply , the Yan Yean Reservoir . From there it continues its course southwards and flows into the Yarra River near Heidelberg in northeast Melbourne.
The Plenty River Trail is a hiking trail along the lower reaches of the river.
