Stotzheim is a district of the city of Hürth in the Rhein-Erft district southwest of Cologne . It is called the Pansy Village . It has 1793 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2017).

geography

Stotzheim is located on the flat central terrace in the western part of the Cologne Bay . The soils are fertile due to a loess cover , even if they do not have the same wind protection layer as the layers in the inner corner of the bay. Vegetables and field flowers are grown here, especially because of the proximity to Cologne. The Stotzheimer Bach flows through Stotzheim (channeled underground in the village) , which also feeds the moat of the former Schlebuschhof castle in the southwest of the village.

history

Stotzheim was first mentioned in a document in 1223 as the castle courtyard of a Maria von Stotzem, who belonged to the Cologne nobility monastery St. Maria im Kapitol . This is today's Schlebuschhof , which is still trench-reinforced . Another courtyard was the Hospitalhof, of which Hospitalstrasse still reminds us. A small hamlet was grouped around these courtyards. Stotzheim has belonged to Mairie Efferen since the time of Napoleon in 1800, to the Mayor's Office Efferen since 1815, with which it was merged in 1932 to form the municipality , now the city of Hürth.

Attractions

  • St. Brictius , Catholic Church. The patronage is dedicated to the successor of Saint Martin von Tours and points to an early Franconian church in the courtyard as the predecessor building. The current three-aisled building dates back to 1936 and was designed by the Cologne architect Karl Band and was restored after war damage and a fire in 1987.

In the churchyard there are still 9 gravestones belonging to the owners of the manors in Stotzheim. The oldest is from 1524.

Infrastructure

A small center with shops for daily needs is located on Keutenstrasse between Hof and Berrenrather Strasse.

A little outside, at the end of the Horbeller Straße in the direction of Cologne-Marsdorf , the Cafe-Kiwy has established itself. In addition to breakfast and lunch, the cafe also offers specialties such as crepes and galettes. On weekends it is also open in the evening.

The Milos-Sovak-Schule , the special needs school with a focus on language, maintained by the district , named after the Prague professor of speech therapy who died in 1989, is of national importance. For the little ones there is the four-group daycare center Zwergengarten .

A medical practice group has been set up in the building of the former Catholic kindergarten.

The local sports club received a modern artificial turf pitch because the old facility had to give way to a building area.

The regional office of the Landesverband des Lebenshilfe Nordrhein-Westfalen eV is located in Stotzheim. With its subsidiaries, Lebenshilfe Nordrhein-Westfalen is the largest employer in the area with over 800 employees.

politics

Stotzheim forms an urban district with Sielsdorf . Otto Winkelhag (CDU) is the mayor.
