Johann Peter Weygold

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Peter Weygold (born August 8, 1811 in Stotzheim ; † 1876) was a Prussian deputy and mayor of the mayorships of Efferen and Hürth .

Life

Johann Peter Weygold was the landowner of the Stotzheimer Hospitalhof, from which he also ran the mayor's office in Hürth from 1845 to 1851 and from 1847 to 1864 the mayor's office in the district of Cologne . He received a disciplinary punishment for participating in the Cologne City Council on May 9, 1849, an event in the wake of the German Revolution in 1848/49 . His re-election for Hürth was not confirmed by the district president in 1851. In 1864 the mayor's office for Efferen was also withdrawn from him by the municipal supervisory authority a few weeks after his re-election on the grounds that he had evaded his official duties through a longer absence (as a member of parliament). He was succeeded by his son Franz.

From 1862 to 1867 and from 1869 to 1870 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives . In 1867 he was also a member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation for the constituency of Cologne 2 (Cologne-Land). He belonged to the left-liberal faction of the Free Association or fraction Bockum-Dolffs . This brought him into political trouble as mayor.

He was also director of the Cologne Agricultural Association.
