The Stotzweiher is a lake in Mannheim . It is protected as an extensive natural monument.
It is located in the middle of the industrial area of Mannheim-Neckarau . The name is reminiscent of Hugo Stotz 's company (now ABB Stotz-Kontakt ), which was based here. The natural monument is a former gravel pit with a quarry pond . On the embankments, there are ecologically valuable biotope structures and habitats for endangered plants and animals that are worth protecting in the hedges and wood strips . The 0.95 hectare extensive natural monument was designated in 1987. The purpose of protection is to preserve the pond due to its peculiarity and rarity as a wet biotope in an industrial area.
