Location of Straß in Bavaria

Straß is a district of the municipality of Nersingen in the Neu-Ulm district with 2675 inhabitants.

description

The village is divided into two spatially separate construction phases. The lower village with the Catholic Church of St. Johann Baptist is located on the west bank of the Roth . The settlement core extends from south to north along a street along the river, which is lined with new building areas on the western edge. To the east of a small vacant lot on the east bank follows the contiguous but not very compact upper village, which did not exist in the 18th century. It includes the Catholic kindergarten, the school center, the building of the volunteer fire brigade as well as some shops and in the north a little dense new building area. An industrial area is immediately adjacent to the east, with a smaller new housing estate in the north.

In the industrial area there is a Hilti AG plant specializing in plastics technology with 190 employees, a metal foundry and other medium-sized businesses. Most of the industrial area is located on the site of the former army ammunition facility in Straß .

The number of places of worship is unusual for a village with a comparably small population: at the exit to Nersingen in the northwest there is a New Apostolic Church, on Roth-Ufer the Catholic Church of St. Johann Baptist, at the southeast exit towards Silheim the Evangelical Christ-Good-Shepherd -Kirche and a little before the northeast exit of the village in the direction of Unterfahlheim the Kanun-i-Sultan-Süleyman - Mosque of Ditib .
