Strange Invaders is a Canadian animated short film by Cordell Barker from the year 2001 .

action

Roger and Doris have been a couple for years but have no children. Roger uses binoculars to observe the other couples' houses and their children. Doris knits socks - for the family dog. Roger and Doris look at the night sky and see themselves as possible parents in imagined constellations. They sleep together, even though Roger and Doris have been gaining weight recently.

Suddenly it rattles during the night. A little man in a suit who reacts to the word peanut has hit the family's living room floor . Roger and Doris see in him the long-cherished desire for children and take in the being. Nothing is as it was before: the dog is neglected, the creature eats all the fish in the aquarium and takes apart the house's technology. At some point, Doris, exasperated, packs her bags and drives away, actively supported by the family dog. Roger, in turn, discovers that the male on the upper floor has set up a kind of radio station into space and is sending out signals. He falls over toys lying on the stairs and falls down the stairs. At the signals from the male, numerous males now reach the house and bend threateningly over Roger.

He starts up screaming - it was all just a bad dream. When he sees Doris eating indiscriminately next to him, he knows that she is not fat, but pregnant. After the first horror in thoughts of the dream, he sees how she looks forward to the child and reacts cautiously enthusiastically.
