Streitau is a district of the town of Gefrees in the Bayreuth district in Upper Franconia .
location

history
In Streitau there are references to an old and a new bower next to the Wallberg tower . A line of the noble family of Wallenrode settled in the place and is listed separately in Siebmacher's book of arms with a slightly changed coat of arms. The old bower was built by the Wallenrode in the 14th century and later served as an office building. In 1902 the building gave way to a new school building, today's parish hall. The New Kemenate was built before 1500, because of the later owners it was also called Lindenfels'sches Schloss. Today the rectory stands in its place.
With the territorial reform in 1972, the Münchberg district was added to the Hof district. Only Gefrees and Streitau went to the Bayreuth district .
