Strike Suit Zero (Eng. Attack Suit Zero ) is a computer game from the genre of space flight simulations . It was developed and distributed by Born Ready Games. The game was released in 2013 for Microsoft Windows , Linux and OS X , and the following year for PlayStation 4 , Xbox One and Android .
action
In the 23rd century, an extraterrestrial signal reaches the earth through which humanity learns to travel to distant planets and thus colonize the entire galaxy. Eventually the source of this signal is found by the colonists. It's a small alien spaceship. The colonists refuse to Earth authorities access to this space ship so that it the war between the colonists and the world government of the earth, which in the game as United Nations of Earth (dt. Earth United Nations ; short UNE ), is referred to.
The protagonist of the game is of belonging to the armed forces of the UNE fighter Adams . He and some other pilots are sent to an abandoned space station where they find an artificial intelligence called Control . This had once supported the armed forces of the earth with tactical advice in battles, but it was no longer used after an operation that led to an unwanted massacre of civilians. By Control UNE learns that the colonists a new super-weapon called Relic (dt. Relic discovered) that can destroy them with the entire planet at once.
After several battles between the UNE and the colonists, it turns out that the colonists' super weapon is a huge alien spaceship that they steer directly to Earth. Shortly before the colonists activate the super weapon, Adams succeeds in flying into the spaceship and penetrating to its core. Control reveals to Adams that it is not an artificial intelligence but an alien life form and that the spaceship was once her "body" from which she was expelled. She asks Adams to destroy the force limiters that are in the area around the core, as this could regain control of the ship and destroy the colonists' fleet. If Adams were to destroy the core of the ship, however, this would lead to a rupture in the space-time continuum, which could have unimagined consequences. At this point, the player has the option of following Controls instructions or destroying the core.
If the player follows Control's instructions, she will regain control of the spaceship and destroy the entire colonist fleet. Control's spaceship remains in Earth orbit and its future intentions are uncertain.
If the player destroys the core of the spaceship, the UNE succeeds in destroying the colonists' fleet due to the loss of their super weapon. The destruction of the spaceship, however, leads to the rift in the space-time continuum, as already predicted by Control, whereby she and Adams disappear without a trace.
Game mechanics
The player controls a fighter aircraft called Strike Suit in space battles. The strike suit has various weapons such as machine guns , guided and unguided missiles and plasma projectiles and is able to repel missiles by emitting electromagnetic pulses. By shooting down enemies, the strike suit collects "flux energy", which it can use to switch to the so-called "strike mode". In this mode, the aircraft briefly transforms into a hovering mech with increased firepower and mobility.
The game is divided into ten missions that have secondary objectives that, when completed, will give you upgrades for the Strike Suit.
Production details
The developers of the game wanted to revive the space flight simulation genre with Strike Suit Zero . The production was financed with the help of a crowdfunding campaign via Kickstarter.com . 4,500 backers contributed nearly $ 175,000. The game's soundtrack was composed by Paul Ruskay , who had previously served as the composer for the Homeworld game . A beta version of the game that supports the use of the Oculus Rift was released in August 2013.

IGN's Anthony Gallegos praised the challenging battles in the game, but criticized the monotonous levels and weak plot. GameSpot's Peter Brown said the exciting battles and immersive world of the game are making space flight simulation seem like a relevant genre again after years of stagnation. Rich Stanton of Eurogamer criticized the game mechanics, which he described as "frustrating" and "poorly developed from top to bottom".
