The music band The String Cheese Incident (abbreviated to SCI ) was formed in 1993 in Boulder ( Colorado ) from a group of former skiers and snowboarders who earned some money with their music at après-ski parties.
Band history
Today they are one of the most famous jam bands in the USA . In 2004 she also performed in Europe, including Hamburg and Munich . In the summer of 2006 she also made her way to Japan .
The band integrates a variety of musical styles. Country , folk , bluegrass can be found in their music. But rock , jazz and blues can also be heard , and pieces of music that are too long are the order of the day. Songs from other bands are also integrated; including Grateful Dead .
Important titles of the band are for example the Lonesome Fiddle Blues , How Mountain Girl Can Love or Joyful Sound .
Many parallels to the Grateful Dead can be found in the band's philosophy. The band's success is based, among other things, on the fact that the fans of Grateful Dead were looking for an alternative after the death of Jerry García , the band's singer and front man.
