Stuart "Stu" Hamm (born February 8, 1960 in New Orleans , Louisiana ) is an American bass guitarist .

biography

Hamm studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston , where he met the guitarist Steve Vai and, through him, Joe Satriani . In 1984 Hamm played on Vai's first solo album "Flex-Able", later with Frank Gambale , Richie Kotzen and other well-known guitarists. He also became known as the live bassist for Satriani, with whom he toured in 2008.

Hamm lives in San Francisco with his wife and daughter .
