Stuart Heisler

Stuart Heisler (born September 5, 1894 in Los Angeles , California , † August 21, 1979 there ) was an American film director .

Life

Stuart Heisler began his career in film with the production company Famous Players and then quickly moved through other companies such as Fox Film Corporation , First National and Goldwyn Picture Corporation . Activities in props followed other areas of responsibility, film editing for several years and a directing assignment for the first time in 1936. "Heisler was seen as a veteran without too great demands, but with some manual skill." His specialties were adventure and gangster films as well as westerns. The most important directorial work of his career is the film noir classic Der gläserne Schlüssel (1942) with Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake . From the mid-1950s, Heisler worked almost exclusively for television on series such as Lawman , A Thousand Miles of Dust, and The People of Shiloh Ranch . In 1964 he retired from the Hollywood business.

Stuart Heisler was married to Olive Beryl Pittman until his death in 1979 at the age of 82; they had one child.
