James Stuart Pearson (born June 21, 1949 in Hull , Yorkshire ) is a former English national football player.

Pearson began his career at Hull City for which he played 129 games until 1974 , in which he scored 44 goals. Then he spent 200,000 pounds to Manchester United , who were relegated from the first division. With 17 goals in his first season, he revived the previously weak storm and was a guarantee for an immediate rise. Pearson, who was best known for his elegant handling of the ball, formed a terrific storm duo with teammate Jimmy Greenhoff , which was always difficult to control by the opposing defense. In 1977 he won his first title in his career when they won 2-1 in the FA Cup final against Liverpool . Between 1976 and 1978 he ran 15 times for the national team and scored 5 goals.

In his first four years at Manchester, Pearson was rarely absent. But then he suffered a knee injury and had to sit out almost the entire 1978/79 season after an operation. Therefore, manager Tommy Docherty only offered a one-year contract, which Pearson rejected and moved to the second division West Ham United . There he managed to win the FA Cup again in the first year when Arsenal FC were defeated 1-0 with a goal from Trevor Brooking .

Pearson ended his career at lower class clubs and worked from 1986 as a coach of various teams, including West Bromwich Albion . However, he has so far been denied success.

Manchester United supporters nicknamed him "Pancho" Pearson.
