Stylidium graminifolium is a species of shot plants ( Stylidium ) within the Stylidiaceae family. It has the largest range within its genus Stylidium , which includes Tasmania , Victoria (Australia) , New South Wales and South Australia .

Like all species of the genus, it produces digestive enzymes in the trichomes underneath the flowers and is therefore assigned to the carnivorous plants .

Vegetative characteristics

Stylidium graminifolium grows clump-like as a grass-like, perennial herbaceous plant and reaches heights of up to 60 cm. The basal leaves are 6 to 20 cm long and about 4 mm wide.

Generative characteristics

Several flowers stand together in a racemose inflorescence on an inflorescence stem up to 40 cm high . The relatively small, hermaphrodite flowers have a diameter of about 10 mm. The five or four petals are usually pink, sometimes white, while the fifth is bent back. The two stamens and the stylus have grown together to form a touch-sensitive column.

Chromosome number

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 30.
