The coast of the southern Mediterranean at Sa Colonia and Su Portu is almost 1.8 kilometers away. description

Wall construction of the north tower

The nuraghi complex of Baccu Idda consists of the ruins of four round towers (nuraghi), which are connected to one another by remains of walls. With the exception of the north tower, the entire complex is covered with earth or vegetation and can hardly be seen. From the northern nuraghe, the north and parts of the east side are visible, the interior is filled with bushes. Like all nuraghi, it was erected from large, uncut stone blocks without mortar, similar to dry masonry , with the outer wall tapering towards the top.

In the past, grave robbers punched a hole in the central nuraghe of the complex so that the interior can be seen from the side from above. It has a diameter of four to five meters. The actual entrance to the tower is below a layer of earth. In another nuraghe next to the main tower, a lintel above the earth-filled interior can be seen. Scientists believe that Su Nuraxi de Baccu Idda was part of a system of other nuraghi defending the area of the Chia Plain, over which a king of prehistoric culture controlled the territory.
