Success Will Write Apocalypse Across the Sky (dt. About success is the apocalypse write across the sky , briefly SWWAATS ) is a Death Grind band from Tampa , Florida ( USA ). It was founded in 2006 and is currently under contract with Nuclear Blast Records .

history

The two guitarists Aaron Haines and Ian Sturgill, singer John Collett and bassist Jesse Jolly formed the band in late 2006 and soon recorded the EP Subhuman Empire , produced by Paths of Possession drummer Nick Goodyear , which they released in July 2007.

In December 2007, the band signed a record deal with Nuclear Blast and began songwriting for the debut album. Meanwhile, the line-up also changed: Jen Muse (keyboard) and Chris Woodall (bass) joined the band, but Woodall and drummer Mike Petrak left the band before the recordings. Matt Simpson (bass) and Mike Heller (drums) replaced the two. With this line-up they recorded the debut album The Grand Partition and the Abrogation of Idolatry , which was produced in mid-2008 by the former Death , Obituary and Testament guitarist James Murphy , but will not be released until April 2009. Drummer JR Daniels finally took over from Mike Heller, who only jumped in for the album recordings.

style

The band's lyrics deal with nihilistic topics and the subject of hate . What is striking about the songs is the choice of title. It is not uncommon for it to be quite long titles that do not make much sense at first glance ("Of Worms, Jesus Christ, and Jackson County Missouri", in German: "Of worms, Jesus Christ and Jackson County Missouri").

The music moves between Death Metal and Grindcore , so it can be assigned to the so-called Deathgrind . The band relies on fast riffs and just as fast drumming, often blastbeats are played and the double bass is used. There are also numerous short, two-part, dissonant guitar parts (see Slayer ).

Band name

The name of the band comes from the text Apocalypse written by William S. Burroughs in 1989 and is supposed to state that the progress or success of mankind is suppressing and continuously destroying the earth, which in the long run will inevitably lead to the end of the world ( apocalypse ).
