Sulcorebutia arenacea is a species of plant in the genus Sulcorebutia from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Sulcorebutia arenacea grows individually and only rarely sprouts with spherical to flat spherical bodies. With a diameter of 2.5 to 5 centimeters (rarely up to 13 centimeters), these reach heights of up to 2 to 3.5 centimeters (rarely up to 10 centimeters) and have a beet root that is up to 10 centimeters long. The about 30 ribs are strongly humped. The areoles on it are elongated and creamy gray. The rough, laterally spreading 14 to 16 thorns are whitish yellow to brownish. They are 0.4 to 2 inches long. There is no central spine.
The golden to orange-yellow flowers are up to 5 centimeters long and 4 centimeters in diameter. The reddish brown fruits have a diameter of 6 to 8 millimeters.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Sulcorebutia arenacea is common in the Bolivian department of Cochabamba at altitudes between 2000 and 3400 meters.
The first description as Rebutia arenacea was published in 1951 by Martín Cárdenas . Friedrich Ritter placed them in the genus Sulcorebutia in 1961 . A frequently used synonym is Weingartia arenacea (Cárdenas) FHBrandt .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Near Threatened (NT)", d. H. listed as low risk.
