Sulcorebutia cylindrica is a species of plant in the genus Sulcorebutia from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Sulcorebutia cylindrica grows sprouting with short cylindrical dark green bodies. With diameters of 4 to 5 centimeters, these reach heights of up to 12 centimeters and have several, strand-like and thickened main roots. The roughly 16 ribs are barely visible, arranged in a spiral and completely divided into cusps. The circular areoles on it are white or yellowish. There are up to four central spines . They are white to yellow with a darker tip and up to 1.5 inches long. The 10 to 12 radial spines are white or light yellowish brown, with a length of 5 to 10 millimeters.

The yellow, rarely a little purple-magenta or white flowers are 3.5 to 4 inches long and have the same diameter. The fruits are orange-brown or reddish.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Sulcorebutia cylindrica is widespread in the Bolivian department of Cochabamba at altitudes of 2300 to 2900 meters.

The first description was published in 1974 by John Donald Donald (1923-1996) and Alfred Bernhard Lau . Synonyms are Weingartia cylindrica (Donald & ABLau) FHBrandt and Rebutia cylindrica (Donald & ABLau) Donald .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
