The Sulferberg is a hill in the municipality of Heuvelland near Westouter in the Belgian province of West Flanders . The Goeberg rises directly below the summit . The summit is 88 meters high. “Sulfer” is a typical name for bad soil in the Flemish regional language. The soil is still used to kill pests.
Geographical location
The Sulferberg is part of the so-called central chain of hills in the Heuvelland, which also consists of the Watenberg, Kasselberg, Wouwenberg , Katsberg , Boeschepeberg, Kokereelberg , Zwarteberg , Vidaigneberg , Baneberg , Rodeberg , Goeberg , Scherpeberg , Monteberg , Kemmelberg and Lettenberg .
To the south of this ridge is the Leie basin , to the north the catchment area of the Yser .
