Example of a sultine:
1,2λ 4 -oxathiolan-2-one ( PIN ),
1,2-oxathiolan-2-oxide,
propane-1,3-sultine or
γ-propylsultine.

Sultines are a class of chemical compounds with organically bound, tetravalent sulfur and oxygen , which can be regarded as cyclic esters of a sulfinic acid. They contain the ring link –S (= O) –O– .

The term Sultin has its origins in the name Sulton , whereby due to the sulf i natgruppe unlike the sulf o natgruppe the "o" is replaced by an "i".

However, sultines are rarely referred to as such, mostly the Hantzsch-Widman system for heterocycles, named after the chemists Arthur Hantzsch and Oskar Widman .
