Sun was a German rock band from Mönchengladbach founded in 1990 . The music group had its commercial peak in the early to mid-1990s. Sun was best known through the two albums XXXX and Nitro , through the numerous contributions to samplers such as Crossing all over and through the use of instruments that are unusual in rock such as a flute on XXXX .

The band was founded by singer Jörg Schröder, guitarist Ralf Aussem and drummer Bogdan Skowronek. Aussem was also a founding member of Twelve Drummers Drumming (1983). After the band broke up, he co-founded Dead Guitars (2002) and The Wide (2018).

The band released a total of seven records over the years after several line-up changes. The last work Sun is not in the powerful and guitar-oriented tradition of the previous albums, but swings into a rather calm keyboard-heavy pop music .
