Twelve Drummers Drumming (12DD) is a German rock band . It was founded in Mönchengladbach in 1983 .
history
Foundation and publications
The first gigs ran under the band name "Volkswagen" before the group was renamed Twelve Drummers Drumming. The name comes from a line from the rhyme The Twelve Days of Christmas . After the release of the debut album "Twelve Drummers Drumming" in 1983, the album should be revised in the summer of 1984 for the English and American markets. The singer Rudi Edgar fell ill, after which the band took a two-year break.
Some members (Brough, Schmidt, Terstappen) had already played together at Wallenstein , a band that was also based in Mönchengladbach until it was dissolved in 1982.
The second album "Where the Wild Buffalo Roams" was produced by Gareth Jones and released in 1988. In 1990 the record "Loveless" followed.
The so far last album "Heroic Feet" was produced by Martin Rex in the Anderland Studios and released in 1995.
Split up
Ralf Aussem co-founded Sun in 1990 ; In 2002 he founded the band Dead Guitars together with ex-member Peter Brough and Carlo van Putten ( The Convent , White Rose Transmission (WRT)) , which was soon completed by member Kurt Schmidt and ex-member Hermann Eugster for live performances. (Brough had already played with Schmidt at Wallenstein 1978–1982 . On the 2011 EP by WRT Mesmerized , EX member Peter Körfer played the bass and Eugster the drums; both were not mentioned on the EP (uncredited).)
When the Dead Guitars took a break in 2018; the four founded The Wide with Brough as singer:
"Carlo wanted a break and we were eager for a sequel .. [..] .. Over the years we have written a lot of songs that didn't seem particularly suitable for the 'Deadies' repertoire"
