Sunuxsal
Sunuxsal or Sunucsal is the name of a West Germanic deity. She is considered the tribal goddess of the Sunuker .
Her name appears on ten inscriptions from the Roman province of Germania inferior (from west to east):
- Varnenum near Aachen- Kornelimünster
- Propsteier forest near Eschweiler
- Inden- Frenz (inscription from a C (aius) Quentinus built into the church, probably comes from Varnenum)
- Nideggen - Embken (consecration donated by a Volerius Pusinnioni and a Quintini (us))
- Zülpich-Hoven (in the choir of the former Cistercian monastery church built inscription of a Probia Iustina from 239 AD)
- Neuss -Gnadental
- Cologne
- Bonn
- Remagen
- Nettersheim
The consecration stone in the Propsteier forest
The consecration stone found in 1856 in the northern Propsteier forest near Glücksburg is 28 cm high and 36 cm wide. Its fully preserved inscription reads:
- DEAE
- SVNVXSALI
- VLPIVS • HVNI
- CIVS • V • S • L • M.
Deae Sunuxsali Ulpius Hunicius v (otum) s (olvit) l (ibens) m (erito) and in German translation The goddess Sunuxsal (this stone) Ulpius Hunicius (set and thus) gladly and deservedly fulfilled his vow .
At the base of the largely missing upper part of the stele, remains of the robe of a seated female person and the front legs of a lying animal can be seen.
