Susan DiBona

Susan Jeanne DiBona (born February 18, 1974 in New Haven , Connecticut ) is an American composer .

Life

At the age of seven, Susan DiBona learned to play the piano from Leopold Godowsky III, the grandson of Leopold Godowsky and nephew of George Gershwin . He continued to look after her when she gave concerts for the first time at the age of twelve. She also studied instruments such as the viola , organ , flute , bassoon, and the cello . During her school years she also worked as an arranger, studio musician and music director on various productions in New York, Connecticut and Buenos Aires . She then studied European languages, literature and music at Barnard College and Columbia University .

During her studies she worked as a vocal coach and music director on several musicals, with which she toured both the United States and Europe. After a long tour, she decided to stay in Europe and settled in Berlin, where she worked as a studio musician, arranger and composer. Here she made her debut with the documentary Why half past three? as a film composer and wrote the music for the two television films Ich leih 'mir ein Familie and Die Liebesflüsterin . She then went to southern Italy to continue her career as a film music composer and conductor.

In 2015 she won the silver medal of the Global Music Awards in the categories "Composer / Composition" and "Original Soundtrack Film & Television". In 2017 she received two nominations for the Premio Colonne Sonore film music award: Best Italian Film Composer and Best Music for an Italian Film.
