Susan Fisher

Susan J. Fisher (b. 1951) is a gynecologist at the University of California, San Francisco . There she is (as of 2020) Director of Translational Research for Perinatal Biology and Perinatal Medicine at the Center for Reproductive Biology and Professor of Gynecology , Obstetrics and Reproductive Biology.

Life

Fisher earned a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from Hope College in Holland , Michigan in 1972 and a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky , Lexington in 1977. in anatomy. She stayed here as a postdoctoral fellow until 1982 .

Susan Fisher is researching the ability of cytotrophoblasts (see trophoblast ) to invade the mother's uterus and the properties of embryonic stem cells . Further work deals with the analysis of different proteomes using mass spectrometry .

Fisher was awarded the March of Dimes and Richard B. Johnston, Jr., MD Prize in Developmental Biology in 2020 . Her work on the human placenta and its importance for the development of preeclampsia and premature birth was honored . According to the Scopus database, Fisher has an h-index of 83 (as of July 2020).
