Susann Engert

Susann Engert (born March 1, 1978 in Eisenhüttenstadt ) is a German SPD politician . She was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives .

Life

Engert graduated from the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium in Eisenhüttenstadt in 1997 and studied journalism and communication at the Free University of Berlin and the University of Potsdam from 1998 to 2004 . After an internship at the Märkische Oderzeitung in 2000, she continued to work there as a freelancer. Susann Engert has been working for Wolfgang Thierse since 2001 , first as a student assistant in his constituency office, then from 2004 as a research assistant in the Bundestag office. She is a member of ver.di , the Social Democratic Community for Local Politics and the Forum East Germany.

Engert has been a member of the SPD since 1999 and was Deputy Federal Juso Chairwoman from 2003 to 2005 . From 2001 to 2006 she was a district councilor in the Pankow district and spokeswoman for youth policy for the parliamentary group there.

Engert was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives in 2006 in the constituency of Pankow 9 . She was a member of the Committee on Cultural Affairs and the Committee on Integration, Labor, Vocational Education and Social Affairs. Furthermore, Susann Engert was spokeswoman for same-sex lifestyles within the SPD parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives.

For personal reasons, she resigned her mandate early on February 28, 2011.
