Susanne Fengler

Susanne Fengler (born October 10, 1971 in Dortmund ) is a German communication scientist and author .

Life

After graduating from high school, Fengler first went to Lee Strasberg's drama school in New York and then studied communication science in Berlin . She then received a scholarship from the FAZIT Foundation of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung . She did her PhD on the history of media journalism in the USA from the 18th century to the present. From 2001 to 2003 she worked in the party headquarters of the CDU . From 2004 she worked as a communication scientist in Switzerland.

In 2008 her novel “Heidiland” was published about Germans in Switzerland. With “Fräulein Schröder” in 2004 she brought out a book with autobiographical elements about the work in the party headquarters. Both books are published by Aufbau-Verlag / Gustav Kiepenheuer Verlag . In addition to this book, Fengler has published two historical novels and books on communication science topics.

Since spring 2008 Fengler has been professor for international journalism at the Institute for Journalism at the Technical University of Dortmund and head of the Erich Brost Institute .

From 2018, Fengler was a nominated member of the ORF Board of Trustees from the Pilz list , and Sigrid Pilz succeeded her in 2020 .

She lives with her husband in Berlin and is the mother of one son.
