Susanne Kerstin Schmidt is a German political scientist .

Life

From 1984 to 1988 she studied political science at the Universities of Marburg and Hamburg . From 1989 to 1990 she was Research Officer at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex. In autumn 1997 she did a research stay at the Center de recherches internationales . After obtaining an MSc in Science, Technology and Industrialization in 1989 at the University of Sussex and a PhD in Political Science in 1998 at the University of Hamburg . Dissertation The European Commission's Competitive Legislation Ability to Act in State-Related Sectors In spring 1998 she did a research stay at the Robert Schuman Center. From 1990 to 2005 she was a research assistant at the MPIfG . In October 2005 she was appointed Professor of Political Science at Bielefeld University. After her habilitation in 2005 (venia legendi in political science) at the FernUniversität Hagen and appointment as a private lecturer ; Habilitation thesis Legal uncertainty instead of regulatory competition: She has been teaching the national consequences of the European internal market for services since September 2006 as a professor for policy field analysis at the University of Bremen. From 2009 to 2012 she was Dean of the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences ( BIGSSS ).

Her research interests are European integration , global governance , policy field analysis, institutionalist theories and comparative governance .
