Susanne Selbert

Susanne Ruth Elisabeth Selbert (* 3. April 1960 in Kassel ) is a German politician of the SPD and the country director of the State Welfare Association of Hesse .

Career

Susanne Selbert is the daughter of Gerhart and Ruth Selbert and the granddaughter of Elisabeth Selbert .

After studying law from 1979 to 1984 at the Georg-August University in Göttingen and in Strasbourg , she worked as a lawyer in Hamburg and Kassel and as Deputy Mayor in the environmental field at regional council Kassel. From 1992 to 2009 she was the head of department and department in the Kassel district. From 2009 to 2018 she was the first district councilor (deputy district administrator ) of the Kassel district . There she headed, among other things, the departmental departments for social affairs, youth, building and the environment, culture and the Kassel district's own operations. This includes the Sababurg zoo , the youth lake home on Sylt , the Panorama house in Schönau am Königssee , the Sensenstein youth castle and the Wülmersen moated castle . She is the organizer of the annual women's receptions in the Kassel district.

In December 2017 Selbert was elected as the new state director of the State Welfare Association of Hesse. She took office on May 1, 2018.

Susanne Selbert has two children.

Memberships and honorary positions

Susanne Selbert has been a member of the SPD since 1992 and is a member of the state executive committee of the SPD Hessen . She was a member of the 16th Federal Assembly . Selbert is chairwoman of the association Kultursommer Nordhessen and a member of the children's aid organization Plan International . Since December 2018 she has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Point Alpha Foundation , which accompanies the work of the Point Alpha Memorial .
