Suzuki RV

Suzuki RV90

The Suzuki RV models are a series of scramblers from the Japanese manufacturer Suzuki . The term "RV" stands for "Recreation Vehicle".

The particular strength of an RV is driving on sand when the air pressure of the tires is reduced a little. For this reason, the RV is also known as a "beach bike".

variants

It began in 1971 with the RV90 (also called Rover), followed by the RV50 (1972–1982, Mokick as one and two-seater) and the RV125 (in Germany from 1974–1981, also called Tracker). The Suzuki RV125 had an air-cooled single-cylinder two-stroke engine with 123 cm³ and an output of 9.8 hp (7.3 kW) at 6000 rpm. In the meantime, the RV50 was also built with a 6.5 HP engine (with 72 cm³ displacement) as the RV75. For the RV90 there was a conversion kit for Germany, which made it possible to register it as a light motorcycle by reducing the displacement to 80 cm³.

  • RV50: The carburetor is flanged to the crankcase on the right-hand side and supplies the cylinder with fresh gas via a membrane and overflow ducts.
  • RV90: Inlet control via diaphragm valve (reed valve) and overflow channels
  • RV125: The carburetor is flanged to the rear of the cylinder, conventional slot control with overflow channels

A rarity is a sidecar version that was produced by a French tuner company in 50 copies.

The RV90 was delivered in white with red rally stripes, blue with white or blue fenders, red (rare) and yellow with white fenders. The old models are now enthusiast vehicles; the owners have joined forces in RV clubs.

New edition

2005 Suzuki RV125 VanVan

Since 2002 there has been a new edition of the RV as RV125 VanVan and RV200 VanVan , which differ significantly from the previous series in terms of both design and appearance. The "new" RV125 is now powered by an air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine (SOHC), which develops an output of 12 hp (8.9 kW) at 9500 rpm from 125 cm³. The additional designation "VanVan" also partially existed for the old models.

Further developments from the Far East can also be bought, e.g. B. the T-Rex 50 and T-Rex 125 from the Chinese company Sky Team . The V-Raptor 50, 125 and 250 from the same brand are on the market, which correspond to the 2005 Suzuki RV125 VanVan.
