The DL 650 V-Strom is a touring and all-round motorcycle from the Japanese manufacturer Suzuki , which has been manufactured since 2004. It is based on its sister model, the Suzuki DL 1000 V-Strom , which was produced from 2002 to 2009, and is marketed as the “Sport Enduro Tourer”.

From the 2007 model, there was a revised version that complies with the emission standard (Euro3) and has an ABS braking system. The engine has been modified and now has dual ignition . The 2012 model has been modified technically and, above all, optically. It has a slightly increased output of 69 hp, a little less weight and tank capacity, as well as consumption that has been reduced by approx. 10%, which is due to the revision of the engine. The appearance and functionality have been modernized with new cladding parts and modified instruments. Since then, the instrumentation has had an analog rev counter and an LCD display for speed, fuel level, engine temperature, gear display and on-board computer. A special model was launched for the 2015 model year, the V-Strom 650XT. This contains spoked wheels and a design element (“duck bill”) as well as additional equipment elements.

With the Euro 4 emissions standard, the V-Strom 650 was again thoroughly revised for the 2017 model year. The engine, exhaust system and instrumentation have been changed, as have the fairing, headlight arrangement and tank. Visually, it has moved closer to the current Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS , which also received changes in 2017. The XT version is now almost identical to the basic model, but like the previous model, it has wire-spoke wheels and additional equipment.

In the fourth development stage since its introduction, pistons, cylinder heads, injection systems and starters have been further optimized. The engine output rose to 52 kW (71 hp). The exhaust system has been changed and the rear silencer, as in the V-Strom 1000, has been pulled down from seat height to the height of the rear axle, also to make room for a payload system. In addition, the motorcycle received a three-stage traction control (off, sport, rain) and an electronic aid that automatically increases the engine speed a little when starting off.

The preload of the central spring strut on the rear axle and the fork can be adjusted, on the rear axle by handwheel. In addition, the rear suspension is adjustable in rebound. This constellation was also retained for 2017. What is new, however, are the 10-spoke rims on the base model. The dimensions of the wheels remained the same.
