Travel motorcycle
A touring motorcycle is a motorcycle that is designed for longer trips, especially on the highway. It differs from the chopper , super sports car and also classic enduro in terms of wheelbase and caster . Today's travel motorcycles are predominantly travel enduros and are partially or fully covered and / or have a windshield to protect the driver from the wind. They have a system of holders for suitcases or saddlebags that allow you to take travel items and clothing with you.
According to the trade journal Motorrad , the requirements for a touring motorcycle include “a long-lasting, reliable engine, ample payload (around 200 kilograms) to accommodate two people and their luggage, sufficient range so that a refueling stop is not necessary every 150 kilometers, and comfortable accommodation for the driver and passengers in the long term. ”The most successful touring motorcycle is the BMW R 1200 GS K25 , which was sold 350,000 times from 1980 to 2013 with various previous models.
