Traffic law

The light moped is a moped in Germany under traffic law, the legal details are listed in the article there.

If the light moped has an electric drive, then it also belongs to the term e-bike , which since December 14, 2016 has been defined in Section 39 of the StVO as "single-seat two-wheeled mopeds with electric drive that move at a speed of more than 25 km / h switches off automatically ".

Cycle paths may be used outside of built-up areas, inside town only if they are explicitly approved for moped vehicles, regardless of the type of drive or, in the case of an electric drive, are approved for e-bikes.

Examples

The only representative of the light moped with combustion engine in Germany so far was the Saxonette with the Sachs 301 engine.
