Suzy Bogguss
Susan Kay "Suzy" Bogguss (born December 30, 1956 in Aledo , Illinois ) is an American country singer .
Life
Bogguss has been active in the country scene since the late 1980s. At the time she presented a mixture of country , folk and singer / songwriter elements. Her first smaller hits include a cover of the Patsy Montana classic I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart . In 1988 Bogguss was awarded the Academy of Country Music's Newcomer Prize. A year later she had her first top 20 hit with Cross My Broken Heart . In 1992 Bogguss was honored with another young talent, the Horizon Award of the Country Music Association . There are also three Grammy nominations.
Bogguss' most successful album, Aces (1991), went platinum and sold over a million copies in the US. From 1987 to 2001 Bogguss had a total of 27 hits in the US country charts. Her greatest successes were in 1992 and 1993 when she had a series of top 10 hits with Outbound Plane , Aces, Letting Go , Drive South , Just Like the Weather and Hey Cinderella . Drive South , written by John Hiatt , was her biggest hit at number two.
In 2014 Bogguss released a tribute album with Lucky to the country singer and songwriter Merle Haggard . In 2016 a complete re-recording of their most successful album Aces followed with more acoustic arrangements. The CD is entitled Aces Redux .
Bogguss tours the USA regularly, both solo and as a trio "Chicks with Hits" with Pam Tillis and Terri Clark .
Private
Bogguss is married to the songwriter Doug Crider. The two have a son, Benton, who performs as a stand-up comedian, among other things.
