Pam Tillis
Pam Tillis (* 24. July 1957 in Plant City , Florida ) is an American with the Grammy excellent Country singer and - songwriter .
Beginnings
As the daughter of Mel Tillis , Pam Tillis came into contact with country music at an early age . She first received classical piano training and then taught herself to play the guitar. At the age of eight she was on stage with her father for the first time at the Grand Ole Opry . As a teenager, she won several talent competitions. She soon broke away from her family environment and began studying rock and folk music. At the age of 16, Tillis had a serious car accident with numerous facial fractures. It took five years to recover after a long series of operations.
During college she formed a folk duo with Ashley Cleveland. She also worked as a songwriter for her father's music publishing house. In 1976 she dropped out of college and moved to San Francisco with friends . Here she founded the “Pam Tillis Band”, which was renamed “Freelight” a little later and played a mix of jazz and rock. Two years later, Pam Tillis returned to Nashville and briefly joined her father's backing band.
Career
After Pam Tillis made a name for herself as a songwriter in the pop and country scene, she received a record deal from the Warner label in 1983. Her debut album, Beyond The Doll Of Cutey , was released that same year . The single Goodbye Highway was able to place in the rear area of the Country Top 100. Other smaller hits followed. The commercial breakthrough came in 1990 after switching to Arista Records and a reorientation towards contemporary country music. Her first album, Put Yourself In My Place , was gilded . She co-wrote most of her songs. The single Don't Tell Me What To Do made it to number five on the country charts, and May Be it Was Memphis reached number three.
Tilli's next album, Homeward Looking Angel , released in 1992 , went platinum. Once again, several singles that were released were able to place in the top 10. In 1994 she had a number 1 hit with Mi Vida Loca . In the same year she received the CMA Award for "Singer of the Year". Her next singles were also successful. The albums Sweetheart's Dance and All Of This Love were awarded platinum and gold respectively. In 1998 she was awarded a Grammy. At the end of the decade, their sales fell. Her greatest hits album was awarded a platinum record in 2001. In 2002 the Epic label released an album dedicated to her father.
Since 2013 Tillis has had several guest appearances in the successful CMT country series Nashville .
Since 2009 she has performed as a duo with Lorrie Morgan , daughter of country singer George Morgan . So far, two albums have been made: Grits And Glamor: Dos Divas (2013) and Come See Me and Come Lonely (2017). In addition, she tours regularly with Morgan and in 2018 as the Trio Chicks with Hits with Suzy Bogguss and Terri Clark .
