Svantetic is a jazz - Composition of Krzysztof Komeda , which was recorded for the first time 1,965th In Poland this piece is the most frequently interpreted comedic composition.

History and structure of the song

Komeda dedicated the composition to the Swedish poet Svante Foerster, who was enthusiastic about his music and helped him to organize his first tour of Sweden in 1964. The song has a very simple form and is based on four basic chords, which are mostly in minor . The dominant chord has a diminished fifth . According to Leszek Możdżer, all of these together create “a mystical atmosphere.” The theme, which may be based on a Polish boy scout song (Thom Jurek suspects Anton Bruckner here, however ) is an ascending three-tone motif; the rhythm is reminiscent of Chopin's funeral march (from the piano sonata No. 2 ).

Komeda presented this song at the Warsaw Jazz Jamboree in 1965; immediately after the festival he recorded the composition for his album Astigmatic . There are also live recordings of Komeda's quintet with this title, from the Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen.

Cover versions have recorded, among others, Tomasz Stańko ( Litania ), Zbigniew Namysłowski , Marcin Wasilewski , Jadwiga Kotnowska and Leszek Możdżer ( Komeda ); most of these interpretations are based on a transcription of the work by Jan Wróblewski .
