The Svartån ( Swedish for "Black River") a river in Västmanland in Sweden .

The river has its source near Norberg in the municipality of the same name in the north of Västmanland. From there it flows in a southerly direction and after 91 km flows into Västeråsfjärden and Mälaren at Västerås . The catchment area covers 776 km². The Svartån lies in the catchment area of ​​the Norrström , which drains the Mälaren to the Baltic Sea. The largest lakes through which there is a flow are Hörendesjön (62 m above sea level) and Fläcksjön (58 m above sea level).
