Svatý Linhart (German: Sankt Leonhard ) is a small scattered settlement at the northwestern end of the city forest of Karlsbad, which was once called Stadtgut at this point .

history

Svatý Linhart took over the name of the church of St. Leonhard in the village of Tiergarten, which became deserted in the 16th century. Today, however, only a few ruins of this church remain, which are under monument protection.

In the middle of the 19th century, about 200 meters west of the ruins on the road to Schlaggenwald , an excursion restaurant was built that was frequently visited by spa guests in connection with the neighboring Aberg (609 m). The currently (August 2009) closed forest café emerged from the St. Leonhard restoration. There is an old basalt quarry in the forest near this building complex .

In order to upgrade the area, one of the Karlovy Vary spa guests, the mother of Odo Russell, 1st Baron Ampthill , restored St. Leonhard's Chapel next to the church ruins in 1838 and later extensively rebuilt it himself. Not far from there was the Russelsitz with a picture of Mary and the Echo marked with a plaque . The Russellweg led in the direction of Karlsbad to the Jägerhaus.

On the occasion of the 675th anniversary of Karlovy Vary, a memorial stone was erected near Svatý Linhart in 2000.

Since 2012, it has been possible to visit the Natural Rope Center - a high rope climbing park - in the nearby spa forests of Karlovy Vary.
