Svein Møller

Svein Møller (* 1958 in Herøy ; † 1999 ) was a Norwegian church musician , conductor and composer .

He was born and raised in the municipality of Herøy in western Norway. After training as an organist at Norges Musikkhøgskole in Oslo , he worked for 15 years as a cantor in the parish in Nordstrand , a district of Oslo. For a short time he interrupted this activity to take a job as a teacher at Viken Folkehøyskole.

During his time as a cantor in Nordstrand, Møller worked as a choir director, organist but also as a composer of church music. He soon took a central role in the local, but also national music of the Norwegian Church . As the conductor of the Nordstrand Church Choir, Møller took part in many concerts and some CD recordings. The last CD "Rop av fryd" was recorded in 1998.

Møller's work "Eg er glad" was performed by the Nidarosdom boys' choir at the wedding of Princess Märtha-Luise and Ari Behn in 2002 .

In addition to church music, Møller also composed the music for “ Herøyspelet ”, a history play that is performed every year on the open-air theater “Herøy Amfi”.

Svein Møller died in 1999 after a serious illness at the age of 41.
