Märtha Louise von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg , also known as Princess of Norway (born September 22, 1971 ) is a member of the Norwegian royal family and spiritual healer . She is the eldest child of King Harald V of Norway and his wife Sonja of Norway .

Life

Märtha Louise of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg was named after her grandmother Märtha of Sweden and her great-great-grandmother Louise of Sweden-Norway . Together with her parents and her brother Haakon , she spent her childhood in a rural setting on the Skaugum royal estate in Asker near Oslo.

She attended a public kindergarten and the municipal primary school in Smestad. In 1990 she graduated from the Christian High School in Oslo. She then studied literature at Oxford (without a degree).

In 1990 she trained show jumping in England and was later a member of the Norwegian national show jumping team. In 2000 she ended her riding career.

Between 1992 and 1997 she trained as a physiotherapist in Oslo . At the end of this training, she went through a practical phase in Maastricht . In 2000 she graduated from the Rosen method, a treatment that uses muscle relaxation, named after its inventor, Marion Rosen .

In 2002 she married the writer Ari Behn . Through her marriage, Märtha Louise lost her title “Royal Highness”, but retained the title of Princess of Norway. After her marriage, she renounced all appanages . In the Norwegian line of succession she is in fourth place; in the UK at number 76 (as of August 2013).

She and her husband have three daughters (* 2003, 2005 and 2008), they have the real surname of their father and no titles. In 2016 the separation of the couple was announced. The marriage was divorced in January 2017. Ari Behn committed suicide on December 25, 2019.

Märtha Luise von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg performs duties for the royal family. She is the patron of six charitable organizations. When she was born, the “HKH Prinsesse Märtha Louises Fond” was founded to support handicapped children. She has authored several children's books and edited an audio book and various books on Norwegian folk tales. She was also seen on Norwegian television as a storyteller.

Her work as a spiritual healer became prominent . From 2007 to 2018 she ran her own esoteric therapy center "Astarte Education". The center offered courses on the laying on of hands and self-healing and communication with angels and the dead . It was sharply criticized for the foundation in the media and also by church representatives. In 2014 the name of the training center was changed to Soulspring.

Since 2018 she has been working with the American " shaman " Durek Verrett. Her activities as a spiritual healer and the use of the title “princess” in her business activities have been controversial in Norway. In 2019 she announced that she would no longer use the title for her commercial activities.
