Svele
A Svele is a Norwegian pastry that is similar to a German pancake . A svele consists of a thick dough that contains eggs , sugar , kefir , flour , baking soda as well as deer horn salt and butter . This dough is fried in a hot, greased pan to form a thin flatbread.
The exact recipe of a Svele differs depending on the landscape or the respective house recipe. However, it is usually consumed with brunost , butter and sugar or with cranberry jelly. Svele is very popular as a sweet and high-calorie snack. Originally a traditional pastry from the Sunnmøre region , Svelen has been offered as a snack on the numerous inland ferries in Fylke Møre og Romsdal since 1971 . From here this custom has spread throughout Vestlandet , where ferry trips are often associated with enjoying Sveler and coffee .
