Sven Hoffmann (born January 15, 1965 in Koblenz ) is a German artist , photographer , draftsman and author .

Life

Sven Hoffmann was born in Koblenz in 1965. He attended the Beethoven high school in the Berlin district of Lankwitz . After studying sports, he studied photography at the University of the Arts (today: University of the Arts ) in Berlin from 1986 to 1992 , which he graduated as a master class student. Already during this time he put his artistic focus on the element water and the photographic representation of it. He developed this focus consistently over the years and expanded his concept of art to include social and ecological aspects. He developed the Aqua Globalis project , which, in addition to the artistic representation of water, is also dedicated to the social and environmental significance of clean water and access to clean water. As part of Aqua Globalis, he started the European Coastlines project in 2013, which documents the changes in European coastlines, be it through the influence of nature or human intervention. In his project, Hoffmann is also involved in environmental protection projects with a focus on water. For several years now, trips to Egypt, Brazil, Dominican Republic, France, Greece, Iceland, Israel, Austria, Poland, Turkey, Thailand and the USA have been increasing as part of the project.

Between 1996 and 2004 he worked as a lecturer at the University of the Arts and in 2000 he was appointed workshop manager in the photography department, and in 1997 he was visiting lecturer for photography at the Nykarleby Art School in Finland. In 2006 he is visiting lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg .

Sven Hoffmann lives and works in Berlin . He has been a member of the CARO photo agency since 2004. In 2012 he initiated the Aqua Globalis project.
