Sven Kretschmer (born December 31, 1970 in Berlin ) is a former German soccer player and coach who currently works as a scout for Hertha BSC .

Career as a player

In his youth he played for SC Siemensstadt , 1. FC Lübars and SC Berliner Amateure . His first professional station was Tennis Borussia Berlin , before moving to local rivals Hertha BSC in 1988 after just one season . After initial difficulties, he became a regular player in the second season and was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga with Hertha . There the capitals were beaten last. Kretschmer, however, was able to convince and was the club's top scorer with six goals.

In 1992 he then moved to league rivals Eintracht Braunschweig. Although he became a regular player there, he left the club after only one season for his hometown, where he first played at Spandauer SV and then at Reinickendorfer Füchsen .

In 1999 he switched to the amateurs of Hertha BSC. With the Bubis, Kretschmer was able to win the northern relay of the Northeast Football League in 2002 and 2004 . In 2002 they lost in the promotion relegation against the winner of the southern season Dynamo Dresden after a return leg in the sum 0: 1 and thus missed promotion. Two years later, the amateurs prevailed 4: 2 and 2: 3 against VFC Plauen and were promoted to the regional soccer league . In the same year they won the Berlin State Cup against SV Yeşilyurt Berlin and qualified for the DFB Cup .

In 2005 Sven Kretschmer ended his career as a player. However, due to major injury concerns in the squad returned to the team in March 2007 and was substituted on in a game against VfL Osnabrück .

After the active time

Kretschmer has been working as a scout for Hertha BSC since 2003, and as chief scout since 2010. In April 2007 he became Karsten Heine's assistant coach at Hertha after Falko Götz was fired. In six games, the team achieved three away wins and three home defeats.
