Svenljunga is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Västra Götalands län and the historic province of Västergötland . It is also the capital of the municipality of the same name . The Ätran River flows through the village .

The name is first recorded as Swinalyongha in 1427, when it was used as a name for the church village . Later, the resulting therefrom site took the name, said in the prefix pig (Swed. Svin included) and the suffix on with heather (Swed. Ljung ) refers vegetated terrain.
