Sverker Oredsson

Sverker Oredsson (born November 16, 1937 - April 26, 2018 in Lund ) was a Swedish historian and local politician. Most recently he was Professor Emeritus at Lund University .

Oredsson went to school in Jönköping , where he graduated from high school. He then studied at the University of Lund and in 1969 disputed with the thesis Järnvägarna och det allmänna: svensk järnvägsppolit fram till 1890 .

Between 1974 and 1982 he was a member of the Lund Municipality Council for the Folkpartiet and its chairman from 1977 to 1982. From 1982 to 1989 Oredsson was head of administration (Universitetsdirektör) at Lund University. In 1990 he became a lecturer at the Historical Institute, where he was appointed professor in November 2000 .

Between 1992 and 2002 Oredsson was editor of the historical journal "Scandia". Since his retirement he has worked as a writer for Swedish newspapers such as Kvällsposten and Expressen .
