The sea rescue boat (SRB) Swantje was a boat of the so-called 7-meter class of the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS). It was built in 1971 by the Evers shipyard in Niendorf (Timmendorfer Strand) .

The internal name was KRST 13.

Naming

The name Swantje is a Frisian woman's name.

Technical Equipment

The lifeboat was equipped with radio systems, echo sounder , GPS , external bilge pump and a rescue port.

Like all "real" boats of the 7 m class, the boat did not have a radar device (further explanation: Kaatje ).

deployment

The Swantje was stationed in Laboe from September 1971 to May 1994 and was then retired. In June 1994 it was handed over to the Lithuanian Sea Rescue Service.

Whereabouts

The lifeboat was handed over to the Cuxhaven Museum Wind Force 10 on April 9, 2017 as a permanent loan .
