The SWARCO AG is the world's largest auto switch manufacturers and internationally, the number two in reflective glass beads. The Wattens- based group has 80 companies in 25 countries and employs around 3700 people.

history

The founding place of the group of companies is Amstetten in Lower Austria, where Manfred Swarovski built his first factory - M. Swarovski - for the production of micro glass beads as retroreflex particles for road markings in 1969 . Since then, SWARCO has diversified significantly and is now one of the leading providers of products, systems and services for traffic safety and intelligent traffic management. LED street lighting and electric charging stations are now also part of the company's product portfolio. In 2007, SWARCO was able to increase its sales by 33.3 percent to 219 million euros. After EUR 340 million in sales in 2008, the SWARCO Group achieved an increase in sales of 22.5% to EUR 416.50 million in the 2009 financial year. In 2011 sales of EUR 440 million were achieved. In 2015 net sales amounted to EUR 581.60 million. In 2016, sales of EUR 615.40 million were achieved. In 2017, net sales amounted to EUR 675.10 million. Following the acquisition of the American traffic technology company McCain Inc. on August 31, 2016, there are also signs of a significant increase in sales in 2016.

Since 2013, the SWARCO Traffic World has been located at the company's headquarters in Wattens, a showroom that was expanded in 2015 and presents various products and solutions from the areas of traffic management, traffic safety and LED street lighting.

On July 23, 2015, the squeeze-out of the majority-owned subsidiary Swarco Traffic Holding AG took place under stock corporation law , which was converted into Swarco Traffic Holding GmbH on February 1, 2016.
